A Message To The ‘Nevermind Lah’ Group

This is a Mother’s Day Message.
To the ‘Nevermind Lah!’ Group... close your mouth.
Definition of ‘Nevermind Lah’ Group; refers to people who often attempt to dispute the thing you want to do or already doing for your child. Or to suggest otherwise on your beliefs or methods of upbringing.
Example; I have people always telling me to forgo my son’s bedtime routine by bringing my child out for gatherings. Or dinners etc... they will go like “we do that too when we had children...NEVERMIND ONE LAH! We bring them EVERYWHERE”
Where do you see this group of people? Everywhere.
Who are this group of people? Your family. Your in-laws and out-law relatives. Your friends. Your colleagues.. sometimes even the cashier auntie at that supermarket.
I feel that there is no one straight and fast rule to raise a child. It is very dependent on the capacity of a individual parent, dynamics of the couple, the personality of the child, limitations and the list goes on...
Honestly I don’t know what you did in the past as a parent. And I do not need to know unless I want to know. I only know that I want my baby to maintain discipline of being in bed in the early months of his years.
It is sad to hear such suggestions from people who have their own children. Because now that their children are older, they forget the exhaustion and stress of being a parent with a newborn. They forget how it is to be a first-time mom or dad. That’s why they forget how annoying a overly-stimulated baby can wrecked your nights.
Don’t say 'Nevermind' to a new parent. It is nasty. Also, there are alot of things we MIND. We are all trying to be the best parents, trying to do the best thing for our babies. And because we take care of our own children, we might have known a little more on the kind of upbringing more suited to our children. Parenthood is trial and error and many decision makings.
So to the ‘Nevermind Lah Group’ who made suggestions based on their own perspective and feelings? Close your mouth... shut.
And HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL YOU MUMMIES OUT THERE! FORGET YOUR REGRETS. YOUR PAIN, AND SORROW! IT IS A NEW DAY!
